How To Find Hidden Cameras

return to Spyville.com

Finding hidden cameras requires some patience and some basic tools.

1. First you are going to need to determine what the camera was placed for. Assume-ably the camera is installed to see a certain thing person or place.
2. Second this is to determine who would have placed it be it a land lord a family member or a stranger.
3. Third is to determine how much time the person would have had to hide the camera.

1. Why would someone place a hidden camera? Why do you think there is a hidden camera? Does someone know things they shouldn't? Is there any other way (no matter how remote the chance) that they would know? remember that people you are around all the time may had overheard parts of conversations and made some guesses about the information. If they mentioned it to you they may have been just trying to gauge your reaction. People hear things that may seem trivial to you at the time but after a few months some people can put a good guess together from just little bits of info. So if you are absolutely sure that someone has seen something that they could not have ascertained using the above reasoning you should move to step 2.

2. Now we need to determine who would have placed a hidden camera. You may have your suspicions but we need to narrow down the possible suspects.
Who would gain from having a hidden camera on you?
Who (covered in the above question) had the opportunity to set up a hidden camera?
Who (fitting the first two questions) is capable of hiding a camera?

Hidden camera technology has come along way since its inception but a hidden camera installer still needs some experience in electronics. For example there will need to be power for the camera as batteries would die in a few hours and the camera would be useless. Another thing is the ability to set up a way to view and / or record the video from the camera.

3.Once you have decided the what and who now we continue to where. A person installing a hidden camera will need a certain amount of time to install the camera depending on what they are trying to see. If they want to see you coming out of the house its a simple process to put a camera outside in the middle of the night so they would likely have plenty of time. But on the other hand if they want to see you in the house they will need to set a camera up inside. So back to our questions? Who in you narrowed down list has access to your house? Did you let someone have a key when you were on vacation? are you divorced and your spouse still has a key? Just think of how many people could ,in reality, get into your house easily (without breaking in) while you are away at work or shopping?

Now to the heart of finding hidden cameras. First what are they trying to see? You should have narrowed that down above. Cameras need a 1/8 hole to see out of and they do need power. Now before you look at you ceiling , could someone have easy access to the attic? Can you get up there? . Check just inside the doors and in the quickest locations for hidden cameras first. Like vents and small windows. Have you had to replace anything recently like a lamp or a clock. Was it you who put it up?

You can by process of elimination find out if an item has a camera in it. Just cover the item with a sheet for a few days. See if someone you know get agitated by this.

Switch clocks from room to room. Do they stay where you put them? You should do things that are out of the ordinary for you and see who mentions it. There are numerous types of hidden cameras.
It is best to remember the steps

Would the person be able to access the location?
Would they have the expertise?
What information are they trying to get?

Answer these questions and you will narrow down the suspects considerably.
