Analog Recorders
Analog telephone recorders are just like tape recorders that were popular years ago, they record on cassettes and have been modified to connect directly to the telephone line. Tape based telephone recorders are simple and easy to install and use. You can save the tapes to keep a record on the conversations you record. Many are as easy as pushing a record button and the recorder will pick up all incoming and out going conversations.

Digital Recorders
Digital Recorders are more suited to today's technology and are usually able to upload recordings to a PC and store phenomenal amounts of recordings , MP3s and Data. Digital Phone Recorders are mostly multi functional and can be used as voice recorders as well as phone recorders. (Digital Phone Recorders will not work on multi line or DSL phone lines) You must use an Analog phone recorder for DSL or multi line phones.
