Tape based telephone recorders are simple and easy to install and use. You can save the tapes to keep a record on the conversations you record. Many are as easy as pushing a record button and the recorder will pick up all incoming and out going conversations.

Digital Recorders
Digital Recorders are more suited to today's technology and are usually able to upload recordings to a PC and store phenomenal amounts of recordings , MP3s and Data. Digital Phone Recorders are mostly multi functional and can be used as voice recorders as well as phone recorders. (Digital Phone Recorders will not work on multi line or DSL phone lines) You must use an Analog phone recorder for DSL or multi line phones.

Return to Spyville.com

This is our newest Camera and DVR

The Worlds Smallest Camera And DVR Digital Video Recorder All In One!
This all in one package is the world’s first DVR and camera complete in the shape of a ball. Inside this Ping Pong size ball is a motion activated camera and DVR (digital video recorder) it captures images at 30 FPS at 320x240 resolutions. Comes with 128mb internal memory and supports up to a 2gig micro sd card.

It can be used in various applications such as vehicle security, sports, personal security or whatever the user can dream up. This camera is an excellent tool for the private investigator. Now you can literally carry a portable video recorder where ever you subject goes, now you will be able to obtain video in place where your camcorder or your body worn video are useless. Just hold it in your hand its that small!

I took the demo of this camera out on a surveillance and found it to be very helpful. It did work out well. I had a scheduled IME to go to and I had knowledge of the area. It was a small office and hidden and body worn cameras are difficult to use as all the seats point in one direction. I was able to lean on the chair with my arms crossed and point it at the subject. It took a few practice recordings to get my aim down but it was no worse than pager cameras were. I don't think it will take the place of body worn but its nice when you need to run in somewhere when you can carry a bag.

Self Contained Spy Cameras Complete All In One Units

Return To Spyville.com

Self Contained Cameras
Self Contained cameras are just that self contained. They are completely non descript and hidden in a variety of different items. Most are everyday items such as
clock radio cameras and mantle clock spy cameras. Complete covert cameras are easy to use and install. Most require nothing except a plug in the wall.

The Covert complete cameras are SD card (secure digital) based. The recording times vary depending on the size of the SD card. They are motion activated and can be programmed to record at several video qualities.
You install them by plugging them in and begining the recording by using the remote control. The hidden camera then captures video based on the motion its sees and that video is then recorded and stored on the SD card. The SD card can be removed from the covert complete camera and played via an SD card reader or directly into your PC (if your PC is so equipped) Additionally you can take the device to a TV and plug it in to a Video Input and view the recording directly on the TV.

This is a very cost effective and easy to do operation. The Covert complete cameras will allow you a wide range of opportunities to use the hidden camera. it can be set up in a myriad of locations. Clock radios especially are so universal that seeing one in any location will not arouse suspicion. Only you will know that the camera is there.

Wireless Cameras Operation

Return To Spyville.com

Wireless Cameras Wireless camera have two parts the camera/transmitter and the receiver. Each part needs power either provided by an adaptor or a battery pack. There is no exception all wireless transmitter and cameras need power. Battery life is not very long usually in the 4-5 hour range. Wireless cameras come is many different styles including hidden wireless cameras and Mini Wireless Cameras.

Wireless Hidden cameras can be used for a wide range of applications. Used as nanny cameras mostly, wireless cameras can also be used for domestic situations, office / cubicle theft, in cafeterias and storage rooms. Wireless hidden cameras come in clock radios in air purifiers wall clocks, desk clocks and many others.

Wireless cameras have several advantages as well as disadvantages. The most problematic disadvantage being that wireless camera pictures can be interfered with by other wireless sources, such as cordless phones, wireless routers, baby monitors , high power equipment (220 and 440 volt) Florescent lights and even cell phones in some cases. This interference can be bad enough to disrupt the picture completely. Other disadvantages include battery life and the availability of a power source.

Wireless does have many advantages over traditional wired cameras. It can be installed in a very short time and there is no substitute for temporary installations. For a permanent system wired cameras are recommended. Wireless cameras have channels that need to be set and some default back to a different channel when the power is interrupted.

Wireless reviver's are simple devices that usually have 2-4 channels and need to be set to the channel matching the camera / transmitter. Receivers are connected to recorders IE: DVRs (digital video recorders) VCRs Computers and DVD recorders. Most wireless are set up for connection to DVRS and VCRs. Some recent wireless systems are PC ready and include software to use for recording and saving of the video. There are also devices that can adapt to the computer to allow for digital recording. Analog to Digital adapters are connected between the receiver (or camera in a wired camera) and then to a USB port on your PC.

Spy Cameras come in several different types.
We will try to cover Wired in this post

Wired Cameras have a video wire that runs from the device either a hidden camera or mini board camera Each wired camera also has a wire for power (IE plug in transformer or Battery pack) All Cameras require power. So a typical setup for a wired camera is a very small or mini size camera that is hidden in an item that is existing in the room. The wires will need to be hidden as well. So for example you need a camera a wire a power supply and a recording device.

The best uses for wired cameras are in area that have existing wireless such as, wireless routers, wireless repeaters, high powered equipment such as 220 or 440 volt machinery or fluorescent lights. All of the listed items put out a certain amount of wireless interference or RF ( radio Frequency)

The most common uses that we have been asked about are in ceilings above cash registers and in stock and storage rooms. Many times a Portable DVR is used with wired cameras.

Over all wired cameras are the most reliable and the least expensive to use and the easiest to set up.

Please try and keep your comments on subject and include any creative hidden camera you may have set up.
